Do You Have a Post Mold Remediation Problem?

Can mold come back after remediation is performed?

Some homeowners might wonder if mold can come back after remediation is done in their home. The short answer is yes. In most cases, the professional company that performs the remediation should find and eliminate the source of the mold, remove any traces of the mold and repair the underlying causes of the infestation. The mold company should be able to completely remove the mold. However, it is still possible for mold to return later on.

The most common suspect of mold returning is unresolved, underlying moisture. Moisture creates a welcoming environment for mold to grow. So, if there is any left over from the original remediation, there is a good chance that mold could grow again over time.

There are some things you can do in order to help prevent the regrowth of mold in your home, whether you have had it before or not. Make sure to dry any wet areas as soon as possible if water gets into your home, like from a heavy rainstorm or a pipe leak. If you find any leaky pipes, you have to make sure to correct and fix the problem immediately. Make sure areas that generate moisture have proper ventilation. If your home is naturally humid, try using dehumidifiers to prevent water condensing near windows and pipes. If you are building or remodeling your home, you can also look into using mold-resistant building materials wherever possible to hopefully reduce the risk of mold growth.

Mold infestation will recur if the remediation is not executed properly the first time. This is why it is important to find a highly reputable mold remediation company that will thoroughly remove all traces of mold from your home. There should be no need for a second mold remediation treatment!
